No Regret CD - 2004

Doin' Time

DOIN’ TIME

Billy is doin’ his time chasing money
He works for the big company
Buying into the great American dream,
He’s only as big as his salary
He plans to get rich and buy his way out
And then he’ll pursue his real dream
But he’s so possessed by the things he owns
He can’t afford to ever leave
There’s somethin’ always nagging him
Maybe ‘cause he’s living in

A prison of his own design
He fell for it sinker, hook and line
No freedom his soul can find
A victim of his own crime

Judy is doin’ her time looking busy
It’s better than nothing to do
Filling her days with meaningless chores
What’s in her heart she hasn’t a clue
Trapped in her life by her own limitations
Never gave herself a try
Convicted and so guilty of
Watching her own life pass her by
There’s somethin’ always nagging her
Maybe because it occurred

In a prison of her own design
In for life and doin’ time
No freedom her soul can find
A victim of her own crime

A prison of their own design
In for life and doin’ time
No freedom their soul can find
A victim of their own…

Lou’s doin’ time living his parent’s dream
‘ Cause that’s what’s expected of him
What’s deep inside he tries not to remember
He swallows it hard with a tonic and gin
Sue’s doin’ time trying hard to look pretty
Her hair and her makeup come first
All of her life she’ll search in vain
Does she really believe that’s all she’s worth
There’s somethin’ always nagging them
Maybe ‘cause they’re living in

A prison of their own design
No freedom can their soul find
He’s so tired of the grind
She’s washed up and past her prime

I wonder if there’s still time
I wonder if they’ll ever find
They’re doin’ time

Friend Like You

FRIEND LIKE YOU

From here it’s plain to see
You’re different than me
Tell me please what I should do
So that I can have a friend like you

Maybe we can understand
Who you are and who I am
So tell me please what I should do
So that I can have friend like you

We can share what we have inside
We won’t dare let our differences divide
Side by side together rain or shine
I’ll be your friend forever won’t you be mine
Tell me please what I should do
So that I can have a friend like you

Sometimes our perceptions
Are full of deceptions
I make no exceptions for me

Just like you
I am too
More than I appear to be

I wanna make it right
And see you in a different light
So tell me please what I should do
So that I can have a friend like you

Cause we can share what we have inside
and we won’t dare let our differences divide
Side by side together rain or shine
I’ll be your friend forever won’t you be mine
So tell me please what I should do
So that I can have friend like you

Buried Alive

BURIED ALIVE

Did you let somebody tell you who you are
You didn't trust yourself, it’s tearing you apart
Out of control you feel like a puppet on a string
Goin’ through motions and it doesn’t mean a thing

Did you let somebody tell you what to be
You’re all locked up inside and you can’t find the key
Their expectations feel like an anchor on a chain
You really fooled yourself and there’s no one left to blame

This is an emergency ‘cause you’re buried alive
Need a search and rescue for your voice down inside
Deep in the dark of your cave
Your heart must find it’s own way
Don’t let your life slip away

Did you let somebody tell you what to do
Can you live your life followin’ their cues
Your spirit’s broken like a lion that’s been tamed
You live where nothin’s lost and nothing can be gained

And did you let someone tell you what to say
You sold your voice and your soul withered away
You run, you hide, afraid and so tired
Too numb to cry, You lost your fire

This is an emergency ‘cause you’re buried alive
Need a search and rescue for your voice down inside
Deep in the dark of your cave
Your heart must find it’s own way
You lost your grip, you slipped and

Fell into a hole that’s huge
You’re so scared you can hardly move
Now will this cave become your grave
You alone yourself must save
The light is dim
The air is thin
The walls are slowly cavin’ in

This is an emergency ‘cause you’re buried alive
Need a search and rescue for your voice down inside
Don’t lose heart, don’t lose faith
You can make it it’s not too late
Only one way to break free
Trust in your heart and then in yourself you must BELIEVE
Deep in the dark of your cave
Your heart must find it’s own way
Don’t let your life slip away

Undone at the Seams

UNDONE AT THE SEAMS

Undone at the seams you feel so torn apart
You have an ache, a great big hole inside your heart
Finally an opening, a blessing in disguise
A window to your hopes and dreams you left so far behind
Undone at the seams
Reach and find your dreams
Look inside when undone at the seams

Undone at the seams you wanna scream and shout
But you have the strength and you must figure it all out
Now’s the chance to live your life with more understanding
Seek the truth and you will find yourself changing
Undone at the seams
A new beginning
So look in side when undone at the seams

Undone at the seams no longer secure
No more time for wastin’ you must find the cure
From the dark into the light, blind and now you see
That this was a much needed kind of opportunity
To reach and find your dreams
A new beginning
There’s no more wastin’ time
You won’t go through life blind
So take a look deep down inside
Undone at the seams
You learn what your life means
So look inside when undone at the seams

No Regret

I met a woman, she seemed so alive
I begged her so, I need to know why
She said she found that one special thing
Built her life around what made her heart sing
‘Cuz life is too short so every chance you get
Follow your heart and go for it

Then there’s no regret, no regret
I wanna live my life
With no regret, no regret
That’s how I want to die

I met an old man he seemed so at peace
I begged him so, tell your secret to me
He said he tried to never hurt anyone
And he apologized for any wrong he had done
‘Cuz life is too short so any chance you get
Open your heart, forgive and forget

Then there’s no regret, no regret
I wanna live my life
With no regret, no regret
That’s how I want to die

I see a child with light in her eyes
Every small and simple thing such a surprise
She laughs and sings in never ending play
If only I could be like her finding magic in each day
My life is too short how much longer will I get
To find the child in my heart and live for the moment

And live my life with no regret, no regret
I wanna live my life
With no regret, no regret
That’s how I want to die

Boys Will Be Boys

BOYS WILL BE BOYS

Boys will be boys you know that much is true
When they’re together there ain’t much you can do
Cause they gotta do all the things they gotta do, that boys do

I know enough about them I’ve been around to see
They’re getting into mischief constantly
They’ve already done that been there
Movin’ around at wreckless speed
Get outta the way or pay the price ‘cause

Boys will Boys will be
Boys will Boys will be
Boys will Boys will be Boys

What will it take to win them over
What will it take to make them see
Oh I don’t know just how they fit together
But boys will be boys that’s what they’re meant to be

Boys will Boys will be
Boys will Boys will be
Boys will Boys will be Boys

I'll Be Cryin'

I’LL BE CRYIN’

You came to say goodbye
Now I feel like I am falling
So I close my eyes and pray this can’t be real

You took me by surprise
You gave little warning
If it’s over then my fate is truly sealed

Oh I’ll be cryin’
Cryin’ all night without you
How’d you make me feel this way
I’ll miss all the sunshine in your eyes
Why’d I go and give myself away

I don’t wanna let you go
Hurry I’ll be waiting
If you change your mind gotta let me know

I wanna run away and hide
Can’t you see my heart is breaking
How will I survive without you

Oh I’ll be tryin’
Tryin’ to forget about you
Tryin’ to forget the way you feel
I’ll miss all the sunshine in your eyes
Why’d you go and give my love away

Oh I can’t remember when I felt so lost and all alone
What a fool to believe that you and me would always go on
You came and took the best of me and now you’re up and gone
Oh we could have gone the distance and you’ll see that you’re wrong Now I hope that

You’ll be cryin’
Crying all night without me
Crying ‘cause your broken heart won’t heal
You took all the sunshine from your life
Why’d you go and give our love away
Why’d you go and give our love away

I'll Believe in You

If the Winter never turns to Spring and flowers never bloom
If the stars never come out at night and I never see the moon
If they take away the sun and the sky that’s blue
I’ll still believe in you

If I never see the ocean shore or feel the wind that blows
If the eagles never spread their wings and the mountains have no snow
I can still look in your eyes so beautiful and blue
I’ll still believe in you

I’ll believe in you with God’s strength I won’t be broken
I’ll believe in you with God’s grace and I will be
Down on my knees and still believe in you

If I never hear a song again with the perfect melody
If I never have another friend to keep me company
If they take away the sun and the sky that’s blue
I’ll still believe in you

I’ll believe in you with God’s strength I won’t be broken
I’ll believe in you with God’s grace and I will be
Down on my knees and still believe in you

Soak Up the Rain

SOAK UP THE RAIN

I’m like a flower that needs a little rain
To quench my thirst but I search for it in vain
My leaves are getting dry, been holdin’ out so long
I’m feelin’ very weak, my color it’s all gone

Cause I am just like a flower that needs a little rain
The well is dry and I am feelin’ the pain
I only want to be what I was meant to be
A pretty flower, I guess I need…need to

Soak up the rain to be myself again
Live as I was meant to be now until the end…need to
Soak up the rain to be myself again
Come and take a drink with me and a meadow of pretty flowers we will be

I’ll only take what I need
The rest for you I’ll leave
I’m so thirsty and I need a little rain

High and dry on the windswept plain don’t leave me
High and dry I need a little rain
Cause the bird was meant to sing
The vine was meant to climb
The bell was meant to ring
The sun it was meant to shine
The wind was meant to blow
Thunder meant to boom
The river it was meant to flow
Just like I was meant to bloom‘
‘ Cause I am just like a flower longing to thrive
Gonna dig my roots into the ground Reach high into the sky
Full of God’s glory my face into the sun
The wait is over. Let the rainin’ come….need to

Our Town

Another day the same in our town
And then we turn on our tv
You can’t conceive of the destruction
Is it real or fantasy

The kids play in the streets in our town
But in our hearts we can’t believe
That people’s lives come down fall to the ground in your town
Can’t hold back the tears at what I see

‘Cause I know a friend
someone that I just talked to won’t go home again
Home to his wife and kids Home to his town
Whatever happened to the safe and sound
Consolation never to be found
‘Cause he will never be around again

Life goes up in flames in your town
No one can escape the heat
And look at all those lives their jeopardized in your town
They could easily be me

‘Cause I know friend
someone that I just talked to won’t go home again
Home to his wife and kids Home to his town
Yes I know a friend
Someone that I just talked to won’t go home again he had the right to live

But in this town love will see us through
And in this town I’ll pray for me and you till peace is found
So we will always be around

And in this town feel the mercy now
And in this town our voice rings clear and loud
That in this town this will never be allowed
‘Cause your town is my town and my heart is with you.
